See the Person in the Mirror

See the person in the mirror

Imagine yourself standing in front of a mirror. You see your reflection, your face staring back at you. But can you really see yourself? Your eyes, those windows to your soul, are filled with stories—some you might even be afraid to tell. This mirror reflects only the surface, but in truth, it can remind you of the deepest secret within:

you are responsible for your life.

This simple sentence carries the profound truth of existence. When you take responsibility for your life, you can no longer blame the past, others, or external circumstances for your problems. This is the moment many of us shy away from. Why? Because accepting responsibility means letting go of excuses and facing harsh realities.

I believe there’s a part of us—a voice deep within—that surfaces during moments of failure. When things go wrong, when we fall short, and when we don’t succeed because of some external event or someone’s actions, that voice whispers: “Phew, we didn’t succeed, but it wasn’t really our fault. It was because of that person or that situation.” This excuse-driven voice works tirelessly to prove your innocence, even when you’re actively sabotaging your own life. It will persist, convincing you that nothing is your fault, even as you sink deeper into the quicksand of your decisions.

This is precisely where the paths of the responsible and the excuse-makers diverge.

Silence that voice. Take it all on your shoulders. Accept everything as your own. That’s where true freedom begins.
